Your new favorite sci-fi strategy game, Infinite Lagrange, is officially coming to PC
Infinite Lagrange is a massive, online sci-fi space simulation game that has been one of the best-rated titles in the strategy category since it debuted. It’s been ranked at the top of the download & recommendation list in the Apple app store and currently sits at 4.7 out of 5 stars with several thousand reviews. Now, developer NetEase, one of China’s top game studios, is bringing their beautiful and ambitious sci-fi strategy game to PC this holiday season with various visual and technical upgrades. Specular reflection, collision monitoring, and frame rate increases are just a few of the enhancements in the PC update. Comparing before and after screenshots, you can see the ships dynamically reflecting light sources around them. The visual differences are evident at a glance. The collision monitoring minimizes model penetration while also impacting players’ war strategy.
To infinity, and beyond.
One of the most significant changes with the announcement of a PC version is the graphical and audio upgrades that help create a more immersive gaming experience. Fans love the game for its elegant ship designs, anthropological worldview, and massive-scale battles. With this latest update, the game runs beautifully at 120 frames per second! The visuals look like a more grounded, industrial version of something you might see in an establishing shot from Star Wars or Star Trek. You may sometimes catch yourself rotating the camera around a fleet of your ships, just enjoying the cosmic backdrop behind you.
Just watching the visuals in Infinite Legrange while constructing your base, adding facilities, and crafting your ships is enjoyable. This new PC version takes the already excellent visuals and makes the experience more immersive by turning everything up a notch. You can also level up each facility to gain access to extra perks, such as upgrading your capital shipyard to unlock the ability to build various ships more quickly. All of this is happening against the canvas of realistic space images that look like something from the James Webb Space Telescope.
A pioneer’s dream come true.
The level of customization and layers of strategy in Infinite Lagrange is quite staggering. The fact that they can make it incredibly accessible with such a user-friendly interface is even more impressive. The game plays like a space sci-fi version of the hit series, Civilization. You arrive in a new star system with a small fleet of two ships and immediately begin work on your base. After that, it’s on to building facilities necessary for shipbuilding, a fleet command center, port, shipyard, or other elements needed to help your base thrive.
You’ll begin by giving your faction a name and a crest and start building your initial ships before registering your location in the galaxy. The game also gives you a list of helpful tips for exploring new solar systems early on to help set you up for success. These include exploring close to the base and navigating other factions that may be friendly or hostile. Every couple of months, a new season begins in the game inviting players to explore and tame a new galaxy. This keeps the game fresh and ensures players have new frontiers to discover.
The ship models are fully customizable and created with astonishing detail. You can group ships to collect resources, mine space dust, explore your surroundings, or set defenses to protect your base. Build an army, mine resources, construct your airspace, or develop new technologies based on your collected materials. The freedom that the game provides is also noticeable, allowing you to explore the galaxies in any direction.
It’s not all exploring and mining.
Aside from exploration-focused ships, you’ll also want to ensure you’re prepared for war in the far reaches of space. The grand-scale fleet battles are incredible, requiring focused strategy and mastery of the battlefield if you want to survive in these new worlds. The recently added “flagship” feature adds a new level of strategy by adding massive flagships you can construct that impact your entire fleet and how they perform. The introduction of the new Identity Agreement System also brings another level of immersion to the game, adding factions for players to join up with. Will you sign the Node Recovery Agreement, Data Rescue Agreement, or Trojite Crystal Mining Agreement to identify yourself as a Neutral faction? Or, will you identify as a free explorer and join the Hayreddin Clan as a Prospector? Neutral factions become diplomats to the Legrange Network, while Prospectors will allow access to facility blueprints. This all adds to the level of customization and total immersion into the world of Infinite Legrange.
Infinite Lagrange will be available for free download globally on December 28th. It will launch with various improvements and multi-platform compatibility, allowing players to synchronize their progress from the mobile version to the game’s PC version. NetEase is hoping to redefine the experience of sci-fi simulation, and with regular updates, immersive customization, and incredible visuals, they may do just that.
