Assassin’s Creed Netflix Series Loses Die Hard Writer

Die Hard writer Jeb Stuart is no longer the showrunner of Netflix's Assassin's Creed series.

As reported by Collider, Stuart said he was "no longer involved" in the streaming platform's Assassin's Creed series after joining as showrunner back in June 2021.

Stuart didn't explain in great detail why he was no longer involved, though it appears to be more for logistical reasons rather than a falling out between him and Netflix.

"I think it was a little bit of a move of executives from LA to London, and it allowed the London group who, unfortunately, had to inherit my vision of what it was instead of getting to develop their own vision. So I think that's fair," he said.

"I know it's going to be great whenever it comes out. I think the Ubisoft guys are fantastic. I think it's a terrific franchise. It was just a good, mutual time to move on for both sides."

No replacement for Stuart has been announced by Netflix, though the company has been quiet on its Assassin's Creed series since his joining was announced.

Rumblings of a show based on the long-running video game franchise first emerged in 2017 but a more concrete announcement didn't arrive until 2020. Despite being three years on once again, however, the series doesn't appear to have made much progress.
